Entry: 13 dumb fads I've lived through Wednesday, July 19, 2006

  1. Streaking - It would have been better if it wasn't usually guys.....
  2. Pet Rocks - People WILL buy ANYTHING.
  3. Disco - What rock 'n' roller DIDN'T want to club Andy Gibb like a baby seal?
  4. Rocky Horror Picture Show - I get bored as soon as the Time Warp is over.
  5. Wacky Wall Walkers - I found one of these damn things in my chili mac once.
  6. Rubik's Cube - Never solved it, but didn't really try, either.
  7. Break Dancing - I was glad I lived in the country, where no one expected you to do shit like this.
  8. "Baby On Board" signs - Oh, you have a kid? Maybe I'll try not to hit you, then.
  9. Piercings - This can REALLY BE OVERDONE.
  10. Wassuup? - This one almost made me homicidal.
  11. Mood Rings - If you need a ring to display your moods, you just might be a little inhibited, eh?
  12. Lava Lamps - A decorative way to tell the world "I smoke way too much pot".
  13. Alligator shirts - Classic dorkwear.

I kind of um *whispers* like disco. Not ALL of it! Just a leetle bit. Like A Fifth of Beethoven. Okay, fine. I like the whole SNF soundtrack. But that's it! And Heart of Glass. No more! Maybe Dancing Queen...

umm, rocky horror was a lot of fun, i only attended twice, but, someday maybe it would be fun to go again. (i bet you didn'y know that anthony stewart head was the original dr. fank-n-furter on stage) (i get bonus geek points for knowing that, having a picture of ASH downloaded on my computer and for actually knowing who anthony stewart head is)

(oops- i have a piercing, too) (but just one)

but, i am right there with you on the rest of that shit.

I managed to ignore most of these, and the others I will NOT admit now!

Hey folks, I'm not putting anyone down. All fads are dumb in retrospect. I had a mood ring myself, and I at least TRIED to watch Rocky Horror.... I just got bored.

Ah. You can tell a great deal about a civilization by its fads. Not really but it sounded sophisticated. I would hate for archeologists to dig up my platform shoes and vinyl disco remixes and extrapolate about our culture. Yeesh.

Joe? did you watch the rocky horror picture show in the theater with audience participation (AP) (very fun) or at home on DVD?
(DVD=very boring)

(i did that streaking thing one time- don't tell the kids!)

JK- It was at home, and dreadfully dull.

I won't tell the kids if you send pics! I'm not above blackmail.

BTW, did that package I sent get there?

I agree with all that list, except maybe Rocky Horror - though Time Warp is the best song in it. I have never understood the Baby on Board signs either. Never had one myself - far too nerdy ;-)
